Cliffhanger: Pierce Brosnan in the Dolomites
Set in a new location and starring an entirely new set of characters, Cliffhanger (1993) pays homage to the original with Pierce Brosnan and Lily James.
In this rendition, Brosnan plays Ray Cooper, a skilled mountaineer who runs a high end chalet in the Dolomites with his daughter, Sydney.
Ray, along with Sydney, end up getting caught up in a dangerous situation after a wealthy guest of Ray's chalet takes his son and goes skiing with a couple of his friends.
Kidnappers target the son of the billionaire and the danger in the mountains escalates when Ray's other daughter Naomi escapes into the mountain wilderness after a climbing accident.
Brosnan and James are joined by other stars to give life to a family torn apart by an extreme situation in the mountains.
This Cliffhanger will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and released in 2027.
Pierce Brosnan as Ray Cooper
Pierce Brosnan plays Ray Cooper.
Brosnan is no stranger to mountain stories, having starred in The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) where he plays a wealthy businessman and skier, and Driving Miss Daisy (1989) where he plays a mountain guide.
Ray runs a successful mountain chalet in the Italian Dolomites with his family.
That peaceful life is disrupted when Ray's rich guest takes his son and some friends for a ski excursion. Kidnappers target the son of the wealthy guest, turning the mountains from a place Ray is used to, into a dangerous place for his family.
Stallone's character Gabe Walker is not returning for this version, and this adaptation uses the original ideas of a mountain story with an extreme situation, and a new family to build the story.
For the audience consuming the movie and pika show apk at the same time, the credible information comes from the official distribution and production sources.
Lily James Is Naomi
The spreadsheet puts Lily James in the right place in Ray's family, but doesn't fully capture her role in the story.
James is Naomi, one of Ray's daughters.
According to the official synopsis, Naomi is still haunted by the memories of a previous climbing accident, and when the kidnapping happens, she is able to escape into the wilderness.
From there, the focus of the movie becomes Naomi's fight for survival.
It's Naomi who has to face the extreme elements of the environment and has to take on the protection of her family while being hunted and pursued.
This takes Naomi beyond the role of a damsel in distress waiting to be saved, and gives James a more active role in the movie.
The new Cliffhanger gives Naomi more of an active role to play as well.
Nell Tiger Free is a part of the cast as well and plays Ray's other daughter, Sydney.
A New Story Instead of a Direct Sequel
The 2027 movie is described as a "reimagining of the 1993 Cliffhanger" and not a direct sequel.
Earlier projects revolving around the new Cliffhanger were described as a legacy sequel.
The new project ultimately creates a separate family from scratch made up of Ray, Naomi and Sydney.
Thus, the audience need not have prior knowledge of the first movie to follow this one.
The idea here is to capture the basic cinematic idea of trapping a family in a hostile environment of the mountains and adding a crime thriller element to it.
The Dolomites provide an entirely new setting. The production can generate tension around Height, Isolation, and Fast-Changing conditions without simply replicating the prior film.
Jaume Collet-Serra is Directing
Jaume Collet-Serra is known for directing a lot of thrillers with characters in precarious situations.
This one gives him the opportunity to explore a mountain and the isolation that comes with it.
Naomi can't simply move like she does through an urban environment.
Every move represents a greater burden and complication.
This combines the elements of a thriller and a survival narrative.
Franz Rogowski and Nell Tiger Free Cast
Nell Tiger Free and Franz Rogowski have both been added to the cast as well.
Also included are, Shubham Saraf, Assaad Bouab, Suzy Bemba, and Bruno Gouery.
It is presumable some of the other characters will also remain unnamed.
This, however, creates an unsettled feeling about who is part of the family, who is the bad guys, and who is trapped in the middle.
It looks like the production will be able to cover its emotional bases before it begins to thrill and grip.
Ray and his daughters are the ones who experience pressure in the story, while Naomi is the one who faces an external threat and a difficult past with climbing.
Most people that find the film by searching for pikashow.apk have nothing to do with the third party app and the film's official release.
Cliffhanger is coming to theaters in 2027.
After its festival market run, Row K snapped up the film and has an official page with Cliffhanger set for a 2027 theatrical release.
More recent articles say that after the earlier release term contracts were broken, Vertical picked up U.S. distribution and will release it in 2027.
Because of the contracts, the conflicting information and different release dates across the various IMDb sites, the best confirmed information is that it will come out in 2027.
As for the facts, the film is being produced by Ribisi/Weston for their production company, Raymond Pictures.
Pierce Brosnan plays Ray.
Lily James plays Naomi.
Jaume Collet-Serra is the director.
Rather than remaking the 1993 version, the new Cliffhanger focuses on a different family on the mountain and asks its young members to be the ones to ultimately find a way through.
